Job Description 

Field Technician performs a variety of tasks to support our client’s design and engineering team to develop engineering drawings. The field technician should have a basic understanding of commonly used concepts in civil and electrical engineering environments. Field technicians will be expected to review and apply industry/company/client policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Looking for a Field Technician with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to diagnose complex problems. 

Responsibilities

  • Apply basic construction concepts

  • Navigate using maps and GPS

  • Execute work orders for fielding while meeting quality and time constraints

  • Prepare, implement and review all QAQC policies and procedures

  • Inspect and record equipment and structures in the field while applying relevant standard

  • QC hardware and wire placement for fiber optic installation

  • Provides accurate equipment location and terminating records for the management group

  • Identify and address technical or logistical impediments to delivering scope of work, using critical thinking to resolve issues

  • Track production and model production data.

  • Provide weekly project updates for General Foreman

  • Support Project Manager in project hand-off to the construction team when needed

  • Cultivate and promote positive working relationships with internal management team, site supervisors and subcontractors and other contractors on site

  • Assists the Construction and Engineering departments in all aspects of the fiber installation

  • Work closely with Construction department to complete clean up and final QC

  • Other duties may be assigned consistent with job description

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Design or Survey is desirable

  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time through rough terrain on foot

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Capable of lifting 30lbs

  • Capable of working in proximity to moving vehicle

  • Ability to withstand long hours of driving

  • Attention to detail, must demonstrate proven ability, knowledge and experience to interact readily across different departments within a multi-cultural, multi-functional environment

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and clean driving record

  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

  • Must be computer literate – Cloud based project management software a plus

  • Must be available to travel to various sites as required outside of SC

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of construction and planning procedures

  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of mathematics and geometry

  • Capable of using varying measuring devices and fielding equipment

  • Lineman/qualified electrical worker experience is preferred
