WLC Launches New Apprentice Program
Wolf Line Construction is partnering with Northwest Lineman College to start a new Department of Labor certified Apprenticeship Program. The program is open to all employees interested in furthering their education and skills to become certified journeyman fiber optic lineman.
A kickoff meeting was held at the Inn at Bay Harbor, Bay Harbor MI on Tuesday September 17, 2019. Thirty of WLC’s apprentices attended the meeting to register with NLC and Michigan Works. This is an outstanding opportunity for these young men to build a foundation and lifelong career.
WLC has worked very closely with Michigan Works to get a Department of Labor approval for this Apprenticeship program. The program will be 4 years long and will consist of 2000 on the job training hours and 2 weeks a year at one of the NLC campuses. Apprentices will be responsible for intense studying and bookwork in addition to the on the job training hours.
This program supports WLCs focus on the safety and health of each employee, maintaining an excellent safety record and ensuring that all employees return to their families each day unharmed. This Apprentice program will also provide WLC clients with the highest quality service possible with competent trained employees.

Class A Lineman / foremen
WLC is seeking a distribution general foreman and distribution lineman that will require journeyman level qualifications and experience.
The Apprentice will assist the Lineman in various aspects of line installation and construction of fiber optic cable.
Looking for a groundman who is a team player & hard worker.
The Underground Foreman is responsible for the daily supervising and installation of fiber optic cable in an underground environment. Foreman is responsible to recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in addition to maintaining the safety of the crews by giving direction regarding procedures, road safety, trench safety and general oversight, thus helping to maximize productivity and efficiency.
The Drill Operator will be responsible to operate equipment safely and to facilitate placement of underground fiber optic cable. Must be able to read construction plans and figure grades. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of the construction industry & fiber optic installation experience.
The Underground Construction Laborer will be responsible for placing conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of the construction industry.
WLC is seeking a project coordinator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to diagnose complex problems.
Service Drop Technician
The position involves the installation of fiber optic cable, working in bucket trucks and on poles, and other duties as assigned.
We are looking for a Quality Engineer who wants to make a difference and become a part of a growing team.
We are looking for a Fiber Splicer who wants to make a difference and become a part of a growing team.
We are currently seeking to hire Flaggers to work on all of our projects. Flaggers are responsible for traffic control in construction zones.
Bucket Truck Operator
We are currently seeking bucket truck operators to install strand and lash. Bucket truck operators are responsible for placing and lashing fiber optic cable in compliance with applicable codes, regulations and customer specifications.
The Equipment Operator will be responsible to operate equipment safely and to facilitate placement of underground fiber optic cable.
