WLC LAUNCHES NEW APPRENTICE PROGRAM

Partnering with the Northwest Lineman College and Northwest Michigan Works, WLC has created a new Department of Labor-certified Apprenticeship Program. This program, which began in September 2019, is open to all employees interested in furthering their education and skills to become a certified journeyman fiber optic lineman.

This four-year apprenticeship program consists of 2000 on the-job-training hours, two weeks of training each year at one of the NLC campuses, and intense studying and bookwork.

This program supports WLC’s focus on the safety and health of each employee as we all strive to maintain an excellent safety record for ourselves, our partners, and their customers. This program will also help us continue to provide our partners with the highest quality service possible.

WLC invests in its people to provide the best fiber optic networks and rural broadband deployments in the industry. The Apprenticeship Program is an outstanding opportunity for these young men to build a foundation and lifelong career.
