Wolf Line Shows Up at the 2026 Arizona Lineman's Rodeo

In late March, Wolf Line Construction sponsored and attended the Arizona Lineman's Rodeo at Trico Electric Cooperative in Marana, Arizona—and yes, it was a hot one. Barb Harmon, our Director of Human Capital, and Jim McAdams, Vice President of Business Development, made the trip out to host a Wolf Line table and spend the day connecting with apprentices, crews, and industry partners.

Hosted annually by Trico, the Arizona Rodeo is an apprentice-focused event, which is part of what makes it stand out. First- through fourth-year apprentice line workers from electric co-ops across the region came ready to compete in events that test real field skills: pole climbing, hurt-man rescue, cross-arm changeout, dead-end bell replacement, conductor placement, and traveler/wire work. There's also a written test and team challenges, so it's not just about being fast with your hands—collaboration and knowledge play a key role as well.

The hurt-man rescue is always one of the more intense events to watch. Competitors must safely lower a mannequin representing an injured worker from the top of a pole. It's the kind of thing that reminds you why this training matters.

“The apprentices work hard year-round for this one event, and competing in Arizona heat takes real commitment.”

For Barb and Jim, the day was about supporting an event that plays such an important role in the line worker community. They talked with apprentices about the trade, shared what Wolf Line does, and made some great connections. Wolf Line is proud to be part of events like this one. Supporting apprentice development isn't just good for the industry, it's core to who we are. Thanks to Barb and Jim for representing the company in Marana.
