Eight Wolf Line Construction employees recently completed an intensive three-week fiber optic training program at Southeast Lineman Training Center (SLTC), earning certification in Advanced Fiber Splicing 3.
The hands-on program covered the full spectrum of fiber infrastructure work—from the central office to the customer premise. Trainees worked with industry-standard tools and FTTX components, mastering critical skills in splicing, testing, activation, restoration, and OSP troubleshooting.
What They Learned
The curriculum combined technical fundamentals with real-world application:
Hands-On Learning in the Fiber Lab – Building expertise in optical components and fiber technologies
Network Design and Performance Testing – Understanding how networks perform and diagnosing issues efficiently
Advanced Splicing and Termination Techniques – Mastering the precision splicing practices that are critical in the field
Inside and Outside Plant Applications – Assembling enclosures and closures using real-world installation practices
Optical Performance Verification – Employing advanced testing and documentation methods for construction and commissioning
These capabilities translate directly to better quality assurance and more accurate project documentation on every job.
Building for the Future
As broadband infrastructure continues to expand across the communities we serve, technical expertise matters more than ever. This training ensures that the Wolf Line crews are ready for the evolving demands of fiber installation and maintenance—and that we continue delivering safe, reliable work on every project.
Congratulations to our newly certified team members and thank you to SLTC for supporting workforce development in our industry.
